Meet our keynote speakers:
Gabriel Wainer (FSCS, SMIEEE) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received the M.C.S. (1993) and Ph.D. degrees (1998, with highest honours) in Computer Science from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and IUSPIM (now Polytech de Marseille), Université Aix Marseille, (France).
He is the head of the Advanced Real-Time Simulation lab at Carleton University’s Centre for advanced Simulation and Visualization (V-Sim). He is a Real-Time and Distributed Systems lab member at Carleton University.
Igor Škrjanc received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is currently a Full Professor with the same faculty and Head of Laboratory for Autonomous and Mobile Systems.
His main research areas are adaptive, predictive, neuro-fuzzy and fuzzy adaptive control systems. His current research interests also include the field of autonomous mobile systems in the sense of localization, direct visual control and trajectory tracking control.
Sanja Lazarova-Molnar is a professor at the Institute of Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, heading the research group Systems, Data, Simulation & Energy (SYDSEN). She is also a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, leading the research group Modelling, Simulation and Data Analytics (MSDA). Sanja is a Senior Member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and currently serving as Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of The Society for Modeling & Simulation International (SCS). She is, furthermore, Chair of IEEE Denmark and Vice-Chair of IEEE Denmark Women in Engineering Affinity Group.
Roland is the founder of uCrowds BV, which he established in January 2018. uCrowds has its roots at Utrecht University, where Roland started his research on robot motion planning as a PhD student. In 2007, he continued his research on Crowd simulation as a PostDoc and Assistant professor. His main interests are Spatial Computing, Digital twins, Game technology and Crowd simulation. His mission is to positively impact the world by creating software to facilitate a safer and more pleasant world.
Jan Brugård is the CEO of Wolfram MathCore a subsidiary of Wolfram Research, one of the world’s most respected computer, web and cloud software companies—as well as a powerhouse of scientific and technical innovation. He is the co-founder of Wolfram MathCore and leads the Wolfram System Modeler development team.
He has a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from Linköping University and is an experienced modeler and has spent several years modeling advanced engineering applications, primarily within the electrical and mechanical field, but also within life sciences and thermodynamics.
